Scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the intertropical covergence zone (ITCZ) may persist across most parts of Mindanao until Tuesday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday.
PAGASA weather specialist Meno Mendoza said three weather systems continue to prevail across the archipelago — the ITCZ over Mindanao, ridge of high pressure area extending over Northern Luzon, and easterlies affecting the central part of the country.
Some parts of Mindanao may still be affected by the ITCZ until Tuesday, while the weather condition will improve by Wednesday. Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will continue to experience warm and humid mornings with a chance of isolated afternoon or evening rains caused by the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.
Metro Manila and some parts of Luzon felt heavy to intense rains due to thunderstorms on Sunday afternoon which are a prelude to the rainy season in the Philippines.
