FORMER senator Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan, along with outgoing Makati Mayor Abigail Binay, Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar and other senatorial bets of the Makabayan party filed their certificates of candidacy on Friday, the fourth day of the filing period, at The Manila Hotel Tent City.
GRINGO RUNNING ANEW. Former Senator Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan has announced his intention to run for the Senate in the May 2025 mid-term elections If elected, Honasan vows to press the passage of a new Armed Forces of the Philippines Modernization Program law, with the current one expiring in 2017. Makabayan is fielding 11 bets who are known sectoral leaders in the 2025 senatorial race. The slate comprised of current and former lawmakers in the House of Representatives, as well as activists and advocates seeking entry into politics. Among them are Arlene Brosas, France Castro , Teddy Casiño, Liza Maza; Jerome Adonis, Jocelyn Andamo; Ronnel Arambulo; Mimi Doringo; Mody Floranda, Amira Lidasan; and Danilo Ramos.
PICKING UP WHERE MOM LEAVES OFF. Las Piñas City Rep. Camille Villar intends to take over the Senate seat her mother, Senator Cynthia Villar, is vacating in view of the 2025 midterm elections.
