Two traffic enforcers were arrested by policemen after they allegedly extorted money from a public utility vehicle (PUV) driver in Pasig City on Friday morning.

The suspects were identified as Emmanuel De Guzman, and Christopher Punzalan. Both were members of Pasig City’s Traffic Parking Management Office .

Rey Macawile, 45, was driving his PUV when he was suddenly flagged down by the two traffic enforcers along De Castro Ave. cor. Ortigas Ave. in Barangay Sta. Lucia, Pasig at around 10:30 a.m., a police report said. De Guzman and Punzalan reportedly took his vehicle’s documents and told him to leave and drop off his passengers before returning to them so that he could get his document in exchange for P1, 000.After dropping off his passengers, he immediately sought the help of Pasig police. He told them that two TPMO enforcers took his vehicle’s documents, and was asking to give them P1, 000.

When he returned to the same spot where he was flagged down, little did the enforcers know that Macawile had already coordinated with the police. Upon receiving the marked money, the policemen approached and introduced themselves before arresting the traffic enforcers.
