DAVAO CITY – More than 2,000 fisherfolk received rice and cash assistance from Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte here on Monday and Tuesday.

Duterte’s son, Rodrigo II, led the distribution to beneficiaries from Barangays 21-C, 22-C, and 23-C at the Davao Coastal Road.“Naa mi diri karon kay nag request ang fisherfolks association ug tabang sa bugas. Naa pod mi gamay giapil nga panud-an ,” Duterte said in a message read for him by Rigo.

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources introduced a closed season from June to August four years ago in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Interior and Local Government to protect the spawning period of small pelagic fishes in Davao Gulf as outlined in the government’s Joint Administrative Order No. 2.

“Salamat, Congressman Pulong, ni ining tabang. Among panginabuhian nakasalalay ra sa pangisda gyod.
