A 19-year-old criminology student died after allegedly hazing by a fraternity in Davao City.
According to the report of GMA Regional TV's Rgil Relator on "24 Oras", the victim was identified as August Ceazar Saplot, a criminology student at the University of Mindanao .According to the police, the bruises are from being beaten with a hard object. The victim's remains will undergo an autopsy while another victim obtained wounds and is now confined at the hospital.
The suspects are all in the same university and are members of the Alpha Kappa Rho Fraternity Alpha Delta Chapter. The authorities arrested the group's president and its seven members, who will be charged for violating the Anti-Hazing Law. Meanwhile, six other members who brought the paddle to beat the victim immediately fled after the incident.The university also issued a statement declaring that fraternities are banned after implementing the Anti-Hazing law and that the fraternity is not a recognized organization.
"The university is also offering its unqualified grief to the victims' families. We express again our deepest condolences to the family of the victims and shall extend whatever means of assistance during this time of bereavement," said in the statement.
