A TOTAL of 177 health facilities were either damaged or affected by the magnitude 7 earthquake that struck Abra last week, Department of Health officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire said on Monday, August 1, 2022.
“Ang badly affected talaga ay ‘yung sa Abra, ‘yung ating Abra Provincial Hospital kung saan madali naman naming napuntahan ang area na ito at nakapag-set up po tayo dito ng mga tents at tayo ay nag-deploy ng mga equipment para sa ospital na ito,” she said in a television interview. She said specialists from the Philippine Medical Emergency team were sent to the affected areas to assist and ensure the continuous medical operations there.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council , in its latest situational report, said the number of injured individuals due to the effects of the tremor increased to 394 while the number of fatalities remained at 10.
