AMMAN - Nakauwi na sa Pilipinas kamakailan ang 13 non-marital Filipino children o mga batang hindi kasal ang mga magulang nang sila ay ipinanganak, sa tulong ng Philippine Embassy sa Jordan at Migrants Workers Office.
Ito ang unang batch ng repatriation mula sa 60 non-marital children na nakatakdang makauwi ngayong taon. Makalipas ng halos isang dekadang negosasyon sa Jordanian government, nakakuha ang mga kinauukulan ng exceptional concession noong August 10, 2023.
Ang mga nasabing mga bata ay hindi pinahihintulutang makaalis ng Jordan noon kung walang Jordanian birth certificate, bagay na hindi maaring maibigay sa kanila kung hindi kasal ang kanilang mga magulang. “This repatriation is a testament of the willingness of our two countries to resolve matters that affect the interests of our Filipino nationals in Jordan. We have proven that, in coordinating closely with our host government, we can get the job done. Now, our non-marital Filipino children accompanied by their parents can safely return to the Philippines,” pahayag ni Philippine Ambassador to Jordan Wilfredo Santos.
Pinasalamatan ni Ambassador Santos ang Assistance to Nationals team ng embahada para sa kanilang pagsusumikap na mapauwi ang unang batch ng mga bata sa Pilipinas.
