BACOLOD CITY – The city government is preparing to restore and make the 105-year-old Yulo’s Park on Rosario St., Barangay 14, this city, another tourist destination here.
In a recent media interview, Councilor Em Ang, chairperson of the City Council Committee on History, Culture, and Arts, said the local government is collaborating with owners for the restoration.
Ang said that Yulo’s Park has been granted a National Heritage marker by the National Museum of the Philippines in 2017. The marker will be unveiled on August 22, she added. Yulo was governor of Negros Occidental and eventually a senator during the Commonwealth period. His son, Alfredo C. Yulo, was a former mayor of Bacolod City from May 27, 1940 to May 29, 1942, the resolution said.
The city council recognizes the importance of preserving cultural and historical heritage in accordance with the National Cultural Heritage Act of 2009 or Republic Act 10066, the resolution said.
