The Philippines confirmed additional 1,984 Covid-19 cases on Friday, Oct. 21. Based on the latest Department of Health’s (DOH) data, the country’s active cases were at 24,192.

The regions with the most cases in the past 14 days were still the same–Metro Manila with 8,673, Calabarzon with 4,656, Central Luzon with 2,628, Western Visayas with 1,520, and Davao region with 1,410. The country’s cumulative tally of cases increased to 3,991,441, including 3,903,543 recoveries, and 63,706 fatalities.

Vaccination continues to be effective in protecting people against the severe form of Covid-19, the DOH said. “To limit transmission, we must arm ourselves with the proper knowledge and ability to assess our individual risk and consequently supplant our individual defenses by employing the appropriate layers of protection such as masking, physical distancing, sanitation, and ventilation,” the DOH said.
