A 19-year-old Filipino chef from Baliwag, Bulacan has bagged the Young Chef of the Year Award during the prestigious North East of Scotland Chef and Restaurant of the Year Awards 2019 in the Scottish port city of Aberdeen.

Renz Mangalile of The Saplinbrae Hotel triumphed over his competitors during the final cook-off in the North East of Scotland Chef and Restaurant of the Year Awards.

The young chef from Bulacan said he was deeply honored when his menu that represents the different stages in his life was accepted in the two-day competition. Organized by the Hospitality Training in Aberdeen, the competition is touted as the largest regional cookery contest in Scotland. Judging for the restaurant titles are done by carrying out unannounced inspections.
