The feat was achieved at the state-level International Women’s Day celebration held at Midtown Perda, Kubang Menerong in Tasek Gelugor.Penang social development and non–Islamic religious affairs committee chairman Chong Eng said the main purpose of the Zumba event was to embrace gender inclusiveness.
Earlier in her speech, Chong said the state was celebrating International Women’s Day for the 11th year to commemorate their sacrifices for family, community and country.Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow received the Malaysia Book of Records certificate from MBR consultant Siti Nurhanim Mohd Noh.“We have policies to ensure that children, teenage girls, wives, single mothers and senior citizens are protected,” he said.
“As of December 2022, the Women and Family Development Committee in all 40 state assembly constituencies have implemented 605 projects on the economy, family affairs and human rights in line with the Penang2030 vision.” Also present were Penang State Assembly deputy speaker Datuk Amar Pritpal Abdullah, Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Ahmad Zakiyuddin Abdul Rahman, state secretary Datuk Mohd Sayuthi Bakar, state trade industry & entrepreneur development committee chairman Datuk Abdul Halim Hussain and PWDC chief executive officer Ong Bee Leng.Chow and Siti Nurhanim holding the MBR certificate. With them at Midtown Perda are Chong and Zumba participants.
