Bagaimanapun, nasib berbeza mengiringi beregu lelaki Malaysia, Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Mohd Rumsani yang berada di ranking No. 12 dunia setelah mara ke peringkat 16 terbaik selepas mengetepikan beregu tuan rumah, Chen Bo Yang-Liu Yi 17-21, 21-12, 21-19 dalam masa 53 minit. Turut mengikut jejak langkah dua beregu Malaysia itu adalah pasangan No. 13 dunia, Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun yang menundukkan satu lagi beregu tuan rumah, Xie Hou Nan-Zeng Wei Han 21-17, 21-19 dalam masa 47 minit.
Dalam aksi beregu campuran pula, gandingan No. 12 dunia, Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Jemie Lai menyingkirkan Terry Hee-Jessica Tan dari Singapura 21-13, 21-15 dalam masa 29 minit.
