President Volodymyr Zelensky has thanked President Joe Biden for his continual military and humanitarian support of Ukraine by presenting him with a prestigious Ukrainian award.
The Ukrainian President is on his first foreign trip since the beginning of the war and is visiting Washington to hold a bilateral meeting with President Biden and address the US Congress.
"Thank you so much, Mr President. Of course thanks bipartisan support, thanks Congress, and thanks from our just ordinary people to your ordinary people, Americans. I really appreciate it.” President Zelensky then presented the US President with a Ukrainian Cross awarded to a Ukrainian soldier for military merit as a further show of gratitude.
President Biden thanked President Zelensky for the honour and said the soldier's gift would be reciprocated with a US command coin."We have a tradition here, and I will give it to him. My son who fought in Iraq, they have what they call a command coin. Have you seen those coins we get in the battlefield? I will make sure that he gets one of those. Thank you."
“President Zelensky the United States stands with the great people of Ukraine, we stand with you - you've been a great leader.” “Over the past three hundred days, the Kremlin has tried and failed to wipe Ukraine off the map,” US secretary of state Antony Blinken said in a statement shortly before President Zelensky landed in Washington.
