Zahid pertahan jawatan di Bagan Datuk, Saarani menang tanpa bertanding
Ahmad Zahid, ketika berucap merasmikan Mesyuarat Perwakilan Umno Bahagian Bagan Datuk, berkata beliau sedia melepaskan jawatan dalam parti apabila perlu berbuat demikian dan terdapat calon yang sesuai untuk menggantikannya.
“Saya tidak akan pernah menongkat langit dan akan serahkan jawatan Ketua Bahagian dan Presiden Umno kepada orang yang saya rasa boleh kuatkan parti kita,” katanya. Ahmad Zahid juga berkata beliau memaafkan pihak yang melemparkan pelbagai tuduhan terhadapnya secara terbuka namun memberi amaran akan mengambil tindakan jika ada yang menjadi gunting dalam lipatan.
