Jessica is about to finish year 12 at a unique school in Newcastle, where the staff empower students to 'reach your full potential', while their kids are right next door.

"I was just abusing my life, but once I saw the positive pregnancy test I decided that something needed to change."But there was something else she wanted to accomplish."I was originally going to do it at TAFE, but once I heard that there was a young parent school, I was like, yeah, I might try that opportunity."

The Newcastle campus provides a vital service for 21-year-old student and mum of three Jessica Gillespie."It's really good because the kids are next door, so you can go and see them throughout the day," she said. "I live in Newcastle, but if I caught public transport, it would take me almost two hours to get to school."

"But demand is strong everywhere, and we know that in regional areas there's an under-resourcing of services."Ms Gillespie and Ms Martin will graduate from Newcastle's Young Parents College at the end of 2023, but they will be leaving with more than their HSC.
