A police investigation is underway after a man, believed to be aged 25, was found shot dead at a home near Cessnock on Tuesday night.

Emergency services raced to the home on Traders Way, Heddon Greta, which is about 20 kilometres east of Cessnock, just before 11pm on Tuesday night. "NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man, but he died at the scene," NSW police wrote in a statement on Wednesday.

Offer ends 31 October, 2023"Officers from Hunter Valley Police District established a crime scene, which will be examined by specialist forensic police," the statement continued.Police said detectives have commenced an investigation into the incident under Strike Force Roslyn.
