Here are today\u0027s Ottawa Sun letters to the editor.

Re: AGAR: Don’t let the nuts frame the debate, column, online edition, Sept. 26

I wonder if Jerry Agar is being a bit too cautious in referring to the “apparently” transgender Ontario teacher with enormous fake breasts. Most media assume she is authentically transgender. Given the attention the story has received so far, if the individual is really a cisgender male who simply prefers dressing as a woman, that in itself would be quite newsworthy.Article content

Unlike accused criminals, where it is best to refer to their “allegedly” committing a crime until after they are convicted, I think it is safe to refer to the teacher as being transgender unless she asserts otherwise. The last two hurricanes, Fiona and Ian, will afford the progressives and their politicians to make hay while the sun shines. There is no doubt that these two storms will be blamed on climate change and maybe even Donald Trump.

However, the fact of the matter is that hurricanes have been occurring since time began and they have absolutely nothing to do with man-made pollution. During the last 57 years, there have been six colossal major storms that have impacted the U.S. Contrast this with the 16 that occurred the previous 60 years. Hurricane Galveston was the second-largest one ever recorded and the biggest to hit America. This was back in 1900 and caused thousands of deaths.

Today, however, there are far more people inhabiting coastlines that were barren decades before. Mother Nature can be cruel and relentless; no amount of greenhouse gas reductions, wind turbines or solar panels will change a thing. Is this latest article about the Governor General’s high expenses a cut and paste? Just change the name, whether it’s Clarkson or Jean or whomever. This comes up all the time, with officials saying they’ll study it and do better. What a joke.
