Receiving mental health services should not be a luxury, owner says
PORTUGAL COVE-ST. PHILLIP’S, N.L. — Ash St. Croix is in Grade 9. She knows what it's like to struggle with mental health, but she has improved by leaps and bounds, says her mother, Susan St. Croix.
In 2018, Stable Life received a $300,000 donation from the MerB'ys calendar, a charity campaign organized by the Newfoundland and Labrador Beard and Moustache Club.Today, Stable Life Inc., the non-profit organization offering free equine-assisted therapy and peer support, announced it will be pausing service delivery for an indeterminate amount of time.They ran a program called Stable and Safe for domestic violence victims.
Free equine therapy is changing lives in Portugal Cove-St. Philip's. Tinker started it all. His owner, Alison Walsh, died by suicide in 2013. Stable Life was created in her memory. — Jenna Head/ The Telegram In 2023, Stable Life served approximately 180 people, over 700 hours of service. Since 2020, they've serviced 790 different people.
