Yemeni Huthi rebels claimed an attack on Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport, following Israeli air strikes on Sanaa's airport and other rebel-held targets in Yemen.
Yemen i rebels claimed responsibility for a strike against Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv on Friday, following Israel i air strikes that targeted Sanaa's international airport and other facilities in Yemen . The Israel i attacks, which occurred on Thursday, coincided with the preparation of a UN aircraft carrying the head of the World Health Organization , Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus , for departure from the Huthi-held capital.
Hours later, the Huthis announced they had fired a missile at Ben Gurion airport and launched drones at Tel Aviv and a ship in the Arabian Sea. Yemen's civil aviation authority stated that the airport planned to reopen on Friday after the strikes, which they reported happened while the UN aircraft was preparing for its scheduled flight. The Israeli military has yet to comment on whether they were aware of WHO Chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus' presence during the attacks. This escalation in violence follows a pattern of Huthi attacks against Israel since late November, when a ceasefire took effect between Israel and Lebanon's Hezbollah. The Huthis' Al-Masirah TV claimed that the Israeli strikes resulted in six deaths, adding to earlier reports of two fatalities at Sanaa's airport and one at Ras Issa port.
