Team had a great showing at D1 regionals but fell short in the championship game

The Yarmouth Vikings placed second at Division 1 hockey regionals and will play a March 1 provincials qualifier game vs Lockview high school at the Mariners Centre. TINA COMEAU PHOTOYARMOUTH, NS – The Yarmouth Vikings boys’ hockey team will play one more game at the Mariners Centre on Wednesday, March 1, and it’s a significant one.

The Vikings play in the Western region in the Valley High School Hockey League and Lockview plays in the Capital region in the Metro High School Hockey League in HRM.The Vikings competed at Division 1 regionals in Bridgewater this past weekend where they had a great run in the four-team tournament, but fell short in the championship final.

The guaranteed spots in D1 hockey provincials, based on regions in the province, are three teams from Capital region, one from Highland, one from Northumberland and one from Western. Horton picked up the Western spot with its regionals win.
