PETALING JAYA: Teachers are doing what they can to help their students master Maths and Science subjects in school.
For those in the Dual Language Programme , teachers are employing all methods including using Bahasa Malaysia to ensure students are able to understand what they are learning.
“So long as the pupils understand whether sooner or later what the term is in English, I think this method is okay,” she said. A Mathematics teacher from Negri Sembilan, Karim, said it has not been an easy journey for him to learn how to teach Mathematics in English. Having said that, Fouzi added that the union does not have any data on the lack of teachers to implement the programme.
The study, involving surveying 44 teachers from Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, stated that the discrepancy could be due to a lack of professional development sessions and contextual constraints.
