Workers' Party (WP) members Leon Perera and Nicole Seah have resigned from the leading opposition party, following the appearance of an online video clip on Monday (17 July), which allegedly showed them holding hands during a dinner.

SINGAPORE — Workers' Party members Leon Perera and Nicole Seah have resigned from the leading opposition party, following the appearance of anParty chief Pritam Singh announced their resignations in a media conference on Wednesday,The incident came about when a 15-second video clip appeared on online social media, and allegedly seemed to show Perera dining with Seah, while holding and stroking her hands.
On Monday, WP acknowledged the existence of the video clip, and had called it an "inappropriate exchange" between two senior party members. It confirmed that it would investigate the matter and provide a comment, once all the facts have been gathered. The party also emphasised its expectation for all members to take full responsibility for their behaviour.
Both Perera and Seah are separately married with children. They sat on WP’s 15-member central executive committee - Perera headed the party's media team, while 36-year-old Seah, who contested during the 2020 general election, was its Youth Wing president.
