The supermarket giant will revamp its line of the everyday poultry item across stores nationwide within the next two years in a bid to 'protect the welfare of animals' in its supply chain.
The supermarket giant will be ceasing the production and sale of caged eggs in all outlets across Australia by 2025 marking the next step forward in its sustainable growth journey.
The revised strategy will see Woolies drop its entire caged egg range, switching to a complete free-range egg line instead. “By 2025, our ingredient egg in Own Brand products will be cage-free. By 2025, our vendor brand whole shell eggs will be cage-free.” “The transition to cage-free is on track, with around half of our stores already offering a completely cage-free egg range,” they said.
