Penny Wong has fired back at Paul Keating's blistering attack on her work as Foreign Minister, where he criticised her for 'running around the Pacific Islands' with a lei around her neck.

Ms Wong on Monday said Mr Keating had"diminished both his legacy and the subject matter" through remarks he made to the media about a month ago.
