A 79-year-old woman has died and her adult daughter is in a serious condition after a crash involving an alleged stolen vehicle north of Brisbane this morning.

Police said a person in the allegedly stolen ute fled the scene and was later tracked down by the dog squad.Emergency services were called to the collision at an intersection at Kippa-Ring just before 7am.He said her daughter, who was also in the car, was taken to hospital with serious injuries."I understand that the smaller car was turning left out of Oleander Street and the vehicle was proceeding eastbound on Anzac Avenue," he said.

Inspector White said the police unit, including the dog squad, did an "exceptional job" finding the other driver. "They tracked him some 4 kilometres from the location of this scene, and he's been taken into custody without any further injury," he said.
