KOTA KINABALU: A woman in her 20’s drowned while her two young children went missing when their boat capsized at a river in Sapulut on Tuesday (April 11).
Her husband, who is in his 30’s, and another five-year-old son, were able to get to safety during the incident at Sungai Penawan, Kampung Sinsingon in the interior division.The Sook Fire and Rescue Department received the report at 1.14pm on the incident.
“The team rushed to the scene to conduct search and rescue operation via surface searching method around the area where the boat capsized. “The woman’s body was found at 3.15pm by villagers who assisted and was handed over to the police for further action. “The operation was postponed at 5.52pm and will resume tomorrow morning,” said a Fire and Rescue spokesman.
