A Queensland woman has been remanded in custody, charged with manslaughter over the drug death of a teenage boy. The 15-year-old died after a group of teens took a prescription drug together in Mackay last year. 7NEWS

The 36-year-old woman has been charged with the 15-year-old boy’s manslaughter on Wednesday after his death at aHe was found unresponsive in the house before dying in hospital the following day.The boy was one of six children to live at the home in Malcomson Street.

Police launched a child protection investigation which resulted in the woman being charged after she was found in Brisbane on Wednesday. “Detectives ... allege the 36-year-old woman and sole adult at the property had provided large quantities of a strong prescription medication to the six children, leading to the 15-year-old’s death,” police said in a statement on Wednesday.

Police at the time said six teenagers - three boys and three girls - aged between 12 and 17 were taken to hospital after being suspected of ingesting a substance.The substance was unknown at the time, with investigators awaiting the results of blood and toxicology tests. The woman has also been charged with grievous bodily harm, negligent acts causing harm and supplying medicines or hazardous poisons.
