A man and woman have been confirmed dead after the wreckage of a missing light plane was found in remote Queensland.

A search for the couple was launched yesterday when the Cherokee aircraft failed to arrive at Lakeside, in the North Burnett Region. The crash site was found today just after 11am west of Proserpine by a QG Air Rescue helicopter based in TownsvilleThe CQ Rescue helicopter has resumed the search for the missing light plane in North Queensland."Formal identification processes are still underway and as such, no further information can be provided," Queensland Police said.
