Colchester County District RCMP is investigating a fatal ATV crash that occurred on a trail near Brookfield. -Postmedia fileBROOKFIELD, N.S. — A 20-year-old woman who was a passenger in a side-by-side is dead after the vehicle crashed on a trail near Brookfield Sunday.
Colchester County District RCMP responded to a call about two missing people who were expected back from an ATV ride around 6 p.m. Police and ground search and rescue teams were organizing search efforts when one of the missing people, a 21-year-old Salmon River man, contacted emergency services from a home he had walked to.
The man, who was suffering from exposure to the elements but was otherwise uninjured, led first responders to an area on a trail where he and another rider were involved in an ATV crash.Police said an investigation is ongoing with help from the provincial medical examiner's office.
