Parts of northwestern Ontario are bracing for a winter storm Tuesday, with up to 25 centimeters of snow expected for some areas. Environment Canada has issued snowfall warnings for Fort Frances, Dryden, Sioux Lookout, Nakina, Armstrong, and Manitouwadge areas.Some areas are under snowfall warnings, while special weather statements have been issues for other parts of the region.
The agency said total snowfall accumulations of 15 to 20 centimeters are expected with some areas expecting amounts near 25 cm."Hazardous travel conditions are expected as visibility will be significantly reduced in heavy snow and blowing snow," reads a warning issued by Environment Canada earlier this morning.The snow will begin for regions near the U.S. border early this morning and spread northeastward through the morning, according to Environment Canada.
"The Operations and Facilities Division will continue to proactively manage this significant weather event, and will continue to do so to ensure the public properties and critical infrastructure are all protected during this event," reads a media release issued by the Town of Fort Frances last night.
