The WHS said Tuesday that the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian-Animal Welfare recently removed more than 130 dogs from a home north of Winnipeg, and most of the animals have been taken in by the humane society. The humane society says it’s limited in terms of details it can provide about the animals, as an investigation by provincial officials is currently underway.
At a press conference, WHS CEO Jessica Miller said the humane society has been working around the clock to make sure the animals are cared for, despite resources being overwhelmed.“We have had to shelter in groups, we’ve had to double-cage… that causes issues with trying to give animals medications, trying to clean kennels that have multiple animals in them, so it just puts a lot of pressure on the system,” Miller said.
