Win for residents under Brisbane flight paths after noise complaints

New measures to reduce noise pollution have been announced by Brisbane Airport Corporation after an explosion in complaints from residents in eastern suburbs.

The airport operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with no curfew and at peak times planes take off and land every few minutes.

In response to the complaints, Brisbane Airport Corporation has announced the new runway will no longer be used between 10pm and 6am, unless there is an emergency. Jetstar also plans to add new generation aircraft to its fleet which are said to be 50 per cent quieter than older models.A flight radar tracker shows planes taking off and landing at Brisbane Airport, which has no curfew.
