Samsung customers who paid to fix a software update glitch in their smartphones are entitled to refunds, the tech giant says.

“Samsung, according to the stories I’ve heard, are saying, ‘You’re just outside a warranty so you’re actually going to have to pay’,” he said.On Thursday, Samsung Australia told 7NEWS.com.au customers should not have been charged for any repairs related to the glitch, regardless of whether they were covered by warranty.

“Under the Australian Consumer Law, consumers are entitled to a repair, replacement or refund if they have purchased a faulty product from a business,” the ACCC told 7NEWS.com.au. “If consumers require further assistance they can contact Consumer and Business Services or the ACCC.”Bloomberg via Getty Images
