The No campaign is proving its own point.
Six years ago, after an equally divisive campaign, we were congratulating ourselves on voting for marriage equality. We held our ground as a fair nation. Whatever happens on October 14 will determine whether we remain so.In trouble for selling a non-existent product, up to 49 per cent foreign owned, wholesale sackings, flight reductions, monstrous fare increases – are these emblematic of a national carrier or just another public company acting in the interest of shareholders and its executives .
Now the problem of getting the job done and coordinating disparate private interests is almost insurmountable. I bet WA, whose power production and distribution remains largely in government hands does not have our problems. The premier may be backing the wrong horse. Extreme weather events caused by global overheating will not be kind to overhead power lines. For the sake of safety and reliability, let’s keep the transmission lines underground.
