Canada has followed the U.S. and E.U. in forcing the removal of TikTok from government devices. Experts aren’t surprised, accusing the app of “egregious” data harvesting.

Bardsley told the Star that Canada followed the footsteps of similar bans taking place in the U.S. and E.U. and that “our moves are consistent with the approach of our international partners.” “We are always available to meet with our government officials to discuss how we protect the privacy and security of Canadians, but singling out TikTok in this way does nothing to achieve that shared goal,” they said. “All it does is prevent officials from reaching the public on a platform loved by millions of Canadians.”
