US President Joe Biden will receive ongoing “surveillance” after a White House physician revealed cancerous tissue was removed from his chest.
Dr Kevin O’Connor announced Mr Biden was found with skin cancer, in a letter released by the White House on Friday .
Dr O’Connor said the 80-year-old President did not require further treatment and the lesion"healed nicely".Basal cell carcinoma is the most common form of skin cancer and does not typically spread the way more serious skin cancers do, according to Dr O'Connor. Mr Biden is currently being treated for non-valvular atrial fibrillation, hyperlipidemia, gastroesophageal reflux, seasonal allergies, moderate to severe degenerative osteoarthritic change and mild sensory peripheral neuropathy of feet.The President is also undergoing routine skin cancer, optometry and dental surveillance.
