As temperatures are expected to rise to record levels across the province, the risk of more fires climbs
Cows belonging to BJ Fuchs, a farmer who has lost some land and had to move his cattle due to the wildifires, are seen on their new farm in Shining Bank on May 11.Parkland County’s Fire Chief Brian Cornforth encouraged the public to be alert. He said in an interview he expects increased fire activity in the area will put pressure on operations throughout the weekend.
On social media and in town halls, evacuees from Parkland County to Grande Prairie have said they are frustrated with the province’s response. “I would totally sympathize if I had been asked to leave my house or property and there’s a delay in getting back,” he said.
