Vancouver park board staff has presented commissioners with three options.

The pandemic-era bike lane, installed in May 2021 by closing one of Stanley Park Drive’s two lanes to vehicles and dedicating it to cyclists, has caused heated debate.Start your day with a roundup of B.C.-focused news and opinion delivered straight to your inbox at 7 a.m., Monday to Friday.By clicking on the sign up button you consent to receive the above newsletter from Postmedia Network Inc.

The second option proposes maintaining a bike lane around the entire park — thus keeping most of Park Drive as a single lane for vehicles. The first two options would cost about $550,000 and can be completed in the summer, while the third option, which would mostly involve dismantling the current bike lane, would cost $330,000 and can be completed by late spring, said the report.

The report also proposes adding coach bus parking at Prospect Point from the current single bay to three bays.
