A radio host has revealed what ended up happening to an unemployed man who complained he could not find a job in Melbourne before he was offered a role live on the airwaves.

criticising the government's $20-a-week increase to its JobSeeker rates2GB host Ben Fordham called out Mr Heywood, the President of the Australian Unemployed Workers' Union, on his breakfast show at the time, telling the man to"get a job".

"The last job I got an email back from Seek said there were over 100 applicants. There’s a lot of people out there looking for jobs and it’s a really tough market," he told Fordham. 2GB Ben Fordham revealed on Friday Mr Heywood decided not to take up a graphic design position offered to him by one of his listeners by the name of Ben. "My honest assessment is he’s not interested in anything other than pursuing his unemployed workers' union. "The best thing that has happened to me is the six months in which the Morrison government doubled JobSeeker and removed mutual obligations," Mr Heywood said.About 150,000 had been on the former for at least five years, while 156,000 unemployed had been on the program for more than a decade, Fordham claimed.
