Western University drops mask mandates as COVID-19, respiratory infections stabilize

The London, Ont., university had extended its masking policy last August despite the province dropping its own mandates months earlier.

Western University announced Monday it will no longer mandate staff and students to wear masks in indoor spaces such as classrooms and lecture halls.

“COVID-19 will be with us for the foreseeable future, and as we learn to live with it, we will continue to adjust and adapt,” the university said. “As we make this change, please be considerate of individuals who may ask you to wear a mask based on their personal circumstances.”
