Weekend fair aims to welcome newcomers to the Sault

Free event begins at noon Saturday at Roberta Bondar Park and Tent Pavilion

The Sault Ste. Marie and Area Local Immigration Partnership will be hosting the event on Sept. 9 at the Roberta Bondar Park and Tent Pavilion between noon and 4 p.m.

The event will include live cultural performances, face painting, henna artistry, and multicultural snacks throughout the day and is being presented as part of Welcoming Week initiatives from Sept. 8–17. The goal of the event is to foster connections between newcomers and long-standing residents in the spirit of inclusivity.

“For those who have recently made Sault Ste. Marie their home, this is a great opportunity to learn about the community, gain local insights, and receive a welcome bag filled with valuable community resources,” said Mary Ogenyi, Coordinator, Local Immigration Partnership. "We are excited to extend a warm welcome to newcomers in our community and look forward to highlighting the vibrancy that makes our community truly remarkable.
