Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for parts of Metro Vancouver, including New West, Burnaby, Vancouver, the North Shore, Richmond and Delta. Strong northwest winds are expected to begin late Tuesday afternoon and last through Tuesday night in coastal areas along the Strait of Georgia, according to the weather statement. Wind gusts of up to 70 km/h are expected as a cold front sweeps across the south coast.
These winds will develop late Tuesday afternoon, continue through Tuesday night and then begin to ease early Wednesday morning, according to Environment Canada.Follow Julie MacLellan on Twitter @juliemaclellan.
