Strong gusts of wind are also expected
Up to 70 mm of rain and winds gusting up to 80 km/h are expected in Metro Vancouver as an atmospheric river hits the city later this week.
"Rain is expected to develop Thursday afternoon and intensify Thursday night," warns Environment Canada. "The rain will continue into Friday before tapering off to showers on Friday afternoon." At the same time, the atmospheric river will bring winds of around 40 to 60 km/h through the Strait of Georgia and Salish Sea, gusting to 80 km/h, with coastal regions like Victoria experiencing the strongest winds.
