As for their relationship with government, Løseth says the decision by Equinor and bp was made independent of the benefits agreement with the province.He says their Executive Vice-President will soon be travelling to the province to continue dialogue with government.Meanwhile Opposition Leader David Brazil says the tone of the situation is a bit more positive after hearing what Løseth had to say.
He cites Equinor’s speech at the Energy NL conference outlining their commitment to the project, and says he likes what he has heard from them in terms of finding a way for the project to proceed. That said, Brazil still has some concerns. He says it is still not clear what the real reason is for the delay, and he is calling on the province and the federal government to be more open about what is being discussed.
