'WE'RE FED UP': Union leader says talks with CRA now on pause

Negotiations between the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and the Union of Taxation Employees (UTE) are currently at a standstill, according to the union\u0027s national president Marc Brière, who says the government fails to address key issues including wages and telework.

All members, except about 46,000 workers deemed by the government as essential workers, are expected toGoing into negotiations the UTE asked the CRA for a three-year wage increase of 20.5 per cent, in addition to a one-time wage adjustment of nine per cent to account for a long-standing wage imbalance with Canada Border Services Agency employees who administer the Excise Act.

“The offer was 1.5, 4.5, and 3 per cent,” Brière said. “The first year is really not enough, it’s ridiculous.” “I’m really, really aggravated,” Brière said. “We are already fed up of waiting after Treasury Board.”
