Victoria County council heard loud and clear on Tuesday how the majority of at least 250 people attending a public hearing felt about council’s proposedand chief administrative officer Leanne MacEachen, eliciting a roar of applause among more than 250 people who packed the Keltic Lodge’s Ceilidh Hall Tuesday evening.

The county is exploring the possibility of bringing in a bylaw which would see the cost of new infrastructure built passed on to the property owner receiving benefit from the improvement. Currently, all county residents would pay for anything new built whether it’s located in Baddeck, Ingonish, Dingwall or Cape North.Monica Hogan of New Haven:"We don’t want to be priced out of paradise.

At least 250 people packed inside Keltic Lodge's Ceilidh Hall for Tuesday evening's public hearing on Victoria County's proposed local improvement charge bylaw, which has already passed a first reading.

CAO MacEachen also reiterated that no projects have been attached to the proposed bylaw, as it is still in the draft stage.
