The Albanese government has released the unclassified version of a new defence strategy, which confirms Australia is in “huge trouble,” according to Sky News host Andrew Bolt.
“We used to think we could see a war coming our way a decade ahead of it – Now, we’ve got much, much less time,” Mr Bolt said.
He said China could “strangle us” with the navy blockade while the Defence Strategic Review makes it clear that Australia is “nowhere near ready”. “It’s a bit like Australians still really don’t believe there could be a war, or if there was a war, we could somehow sit it out, or if we did sit it out, the world, it would still tick along as usual,” Mr Bolt said.
“Or maybe the bottom line is this: That we have spent so insanely much on ourselves for so long and run up such a massive deficit, got so lazy and comfortable, that there’s simply now not the dollars left to defend us.”
