It is only fair for Deputy Chief Minister II cum Public Works Minister Datuk Shahelmey Yahya to be given time to find practical solutions to the water problem in the State, said State Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

“He has just been appointed Minister… allow him to relook and re-evaluate the entire situation so that he can come up with a solution that is both implementable and practical,” he said after the Finance Ministry’s breaking-of-fast event, here, Friday. Masidi was asked to comment on his meeting with Shahelmey, which he described as a brainstorming session, on the water supply problem in Sabah.“We met to think of solid, drastic moves to overcome the problem.

“We want to solve a very complex problem, and you need to keep an open mind to all suggestions laid on the table. “To find a practical solution, I think everybody needs to work together, and I believe Shahelmey is willing to solicit ideas from other people, Cabinet members and other water experts.” Masidi stressed that the State Cabinet knows the people’s concerns well.
