For the second year in a row, P.E.I. is not increasing its waste management fees. FileCHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — P.E.I. is not increasing its waste management fees for the second year in a row.
IWMC CEO Karen MacDonald said effective waste management is critical to public safety and human health, and the company has seen an increased cost of doing business over the last few years. The Crown corporation's operating costs are increasing due to the rising fuel and maintenance prices. “We need to balance the importance of effective and efficient waste management services with ensuring Islanders are not faced with more financial pressures,” said Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Cory Deagle.
