Muhyiddin Yassin is puzzled by the prosecution’s decision to ask the court to grant Ahmad Zahid Hamidi a discharge not amounting to acquittal when it had successfully proven a prima facie case.

Former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin questioned if the prosecution’s evidence in Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s Yayasan Akalbudi case could not be used.

PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin has questioned if the prosecution in Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s Yayasan Akalbudi case was instructed by their “superiors” to request for the Umno president’s discharge. Muhyiddin said he was puzzled by the prosecution’s decision to ask the court to grant Zahid a discharge not amounting to acquittal when it had successfully proven a prima facie case against the Bagan Datuk MP.

“Does this mean the prosecution admits that the evidence they furnished in court could not be used? Or was there instruction from their superiors that the case must be dropped? “If the latter is true, then this would be a very black mark in the country’s justice system. This has never happened in the history of Malaysia,” the Perikatan Nasional chairman said in a Facebook post.
